As we age, the skin begins to loosen on the face and neck - the jaw line softens into jowls and double chins appear. By surgically removing excess skin and fat, the goal of a facelift, or rhytidectomy, is to improve the overall facial appearance. A facelift will not stop the aging process, however, it will give you a healthier and more youthful appearance.

A facelift takes approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete. Following the procedure, a dressing is worn over the cheek and neck areas for the first 24 hours. There is minimal to no pain associated with this procedure. All sutures are removed within 10 days and some degree of swelling and/or bruising is likely. Usually, two weeks is needed prior to returning to work.
