| There are several different lasers used by cosmetic surgeons to treat various types of skin problems. The laser makes it possible to change tissue without making an incision.
SCITON ERBIUM LASER
SKIN RESURFACING: The Erbium laser is effective in treating superficial skin problems such as early wrinkle formation, aging spots, keratosis and sun damage. Full face laser resurfacing removes fine lines, wrinkles and certain blemishes on the face. It also tightens the skin in the process providing a more youthful appearance. Healing process is 5 to 7 days before applying makeup.
CO2 LASER
DEEP RESURFACE: The CO2 laser is used to treat deeper wrinkles associated with sun damage and aging as well as skin contour problems caused by acne scarring. Compared to other lasers, the CO2 laser produces superior results when used in facial resurfacing as it induces new collagen deposition in the deeper layers of the skin. The use of this laser does involve a prolonged post-operative healing period as compared to other lasers and creates a red appearance to the skin, closely resembling sunburn. This redness can take several months to fade but is easily camouflaged with makeup.
CANDELA GENTLELASE
HAIR REMOVAL: Using a long-pulse high-energy laser, hair is safely removed from the treatment area. After each treatment, hair growth is reduced dramatically. Our results have found that after approximately 7 treatments, patients experience long-term, if not permanent, hair removal. Results will vary per patient.
IPL VASCULITE LASER
VASCULAR LESIONS: Skin growths, broken capillaries, and moles. Usually several treatments are necessary for optimal results.
ACNE SCARS: Laser resurfacing will penetrate deep into the facial skin to remove both teen acne as well as adult on-set acne scarring, including rosacea. It will smooth the facial "pock marks" left in the skin from acne, providing an even skin surface.
