Reasons You May Need a Nose Surgeon in Naperville, IL

Published by Aubrey Sohaney

When most people think of nose surgery, they think of cosmetic surgeries that will make the nose smaller, larger, or just more appealing. This is a common reason, but it isn’t the only one. There are also reconstructive reasons to need a nose surgeon in Naperville, IL, such as broken noses, nasal polyps and sinus surgery, and most nose surgeons can do these reconstructive procedures as well as the cosmetic ones.

Broken Nose

If you have a nasal fracture, you may be able to have it “re-broken” back to its normal state, not requiring the use of surgery. The nasal fracture is a crack or break in the bone of the nose, usually over the bridge. You can get a broken nasal bridge in many ways, such as sports, falls, accidents and fights.

When you have a broken nose, you may have pain or swelling, as well as bruising on and around the nose and under the eyes. However, with these symptoms, you may just have a “bruised nose,” which will go away after a few days. If your nose looks crooked or you are having trouble breathing, chances are it is broken and you need to have this corrected immediately or it won’t heal properly.

There are two options you have for this problem including reduction and surgery. The reduction process is the “re-breaking” process mentioned earlier. If you require surgery, you will probably visit a nasal surgeon.

Nasal Polyps

A nasal polyp is a small growth in the sinuses or nose. When you have this problem, you may have a lot of nasal congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, and facial pain, loss of smell or taste and itching around the eyes.

Most people don’t even realize they have these polyps and believe it to be allergies or sinusitis. Having these nasal polyps can cause problems later in life, so it is important to get diagnosed correctly and work to remove these polyps. There are many treatments available, including surgical treatment.

Sinus Surgery

If you need sinus surgery, it could be for many reasons, such as nasal polyps or improving sinus drainage. In most case, there is diseased sinus tissue that must be removed.

Cosmetic Surgeries

If you dislike the way your nose looks, you can have it reformed or reshaped to look better. Most people with large noses tend to want this surgery to reduce the size and make them look more normal.
