You may be thinking, “How can I possibly have a stress-free Thanksgiving?”, especially if you are the one hosting the family and friends. Everything from cooking for a group of people, having the right decorations, having enough food, dishes, etc., and more can all contribute to stress levels rising this time of year. Fortunately, there are some tips you can follow that can help make Thanksgiving much less stressful-including scheduling a spa day right after!
Be Organized
This may seem like an obvious tip, but there is a difference between knowing what you’ll be making and having a menu with every single ingredient written down. Planning the menu more than a couple of days in advance means that you will have enough time to learn of any allergies, get the proper ingredients, and know what sort of dishes and room you will need in the kitchen. With this, make sure you have a head count so you know how much of each thing you will need to keep everyone full, but still be reasonable. If there will be ten people, you do not need four desserts.
Plan Ahead
Make a list of everything that needs to get done, and figure out what can be done ahead of time. What recipes can be made the day before? Most desserts can, and mashed potatoes heat up in the oven easily, and you can likely cut the rolls ahead of time. Additionally, always have enough time to go to the grocery store for last minute things you realize you still need!
Delegate
As the host, you may not want to let anyone else in the kitchen or have them make up the table. However, it is important to rely on some people to help with smaller tasks. You can have a cousin set out a vegetable tray, someone can help refill drinks or set up a dessert tray. Have these tasks in your mind ahead of time so that when people offer to help, they can contribute without you worrying about the worst cook in the family ruining the turkey.
