Breast Augmentation/Lift
What does the procedure entail?
Whether you decide that a breast augmentation or a breast lift is the right option for you, it is important to always choose an experienced surgeon that you feel comfortable with. At CCLS, we will take the time to discuss all of your options, and show you before and after results. A breast augmentation involves either silicone or saline implants, and they will be inserted either beneath or outside of the muscle. The implants will be inserted either in the lower crease between the breast and ribs or around the areola. A breast lift is often paired with a breast augmentation, but a lift involves removing and tightening excess skin around the breast.
What will my recovery be like?
Every patient has a bit of a different recovery, particularly if a breast lift is paired with a breast augmentation. However, there are guidelines to aid in your recovery. You will be able to resume your normal diet immediately, and are encouraged to walk right after, though you will want to wait to do any brisk walking for two weeks and running for four weeks. Avoid raising your elbows above your shoulders for a week, and don’t lift more than five pounds in each hand for three weeks. Prior to three weeks after surgery, you will not be able to wear any underwire bras. You will have follow up appointments to remove sutures and check on your recovery.
How do I prepare for breast augmentation?
Once you have chosen to proceed with breast augmentation there are several things that you can do in preparation for your surgery. First in foremost you must be in good medical condition. This is determined during our consultation and our history and physical at which time we assess your overall health status pertinent to a breast augmentation. Assuming that you have no chronic medical conditions precluding Anesthesia necessary for a breast augmentation, you should also be free of any bacterial or viral infections prior to surgery.
Finally you should be at a stable weight. If you are in the process of losing weight you should maximize weight loss. If you have recently given birth and have been breast-feeding, you should be free from any lactation for at least three months prior to your breast augmentation.
Are breast implants permanent?
Breast implants are not permanent. Most implants have a warranty of approximately 10 years however it is not unusual for an implant to last 15 to 20 years. At some point depending on your age, you would require either removal or exchange of the implant for issues related to the implied self or the soft tissues around the implant.
Will breast implants need replacing?
Breast implants have a limited lifespan and therefore at some point you would require the implant replacement. Most implants have a warranty up to 10 years however it’s not unusual for implants to last 15 to 20 years. The main indication for implant replacement would be the eventual failure of the implant itself which is expected at some point in time.
How long after a breast augmentation can I work out?
After breast argumentation, I generally allow patients to begin walking briskly in 1 to 2 weeks, running in 3 to 4 weeks, and heavy lifting using more upper body in six weeks. Certain lower torso and leg exercises can be performed immediately as long as they do not engage the pectoralis muscle.
What are the best implants to get?
In my opinion that the most natural looking and natural feeling implant is the silicone gel implants. This comes in multiple shapes as well as multiple different consistencies with regards to their firmness. Being able to specify shape volume and consistency allows me to provide the most precise result to achieve your desired goals.
Saline implants are still available however their usage has declined significantly with the popularity of the silicone gel implants.
What type of implant is safest?
There is no implant that is significantly “safer” than another. All implants have similar risks with regards to implant rupture, capsular contracture and infection.
How do I know what size breast augmentation to get?
Determining the breast implant size, or the size of the augmentation, is always one of the most important questions a patient will ask. Sizing is determined by corroboration between our expert staff and the patient. During the consultation, the patient will express her desires and her goals of what she would like to achieve. This information will then be taken into consideration during the physical exam. At that time the patient’s chest size skin quality and the amount of natural breast tissue will also be measured and evaluated.
After examination, our expert staff can discuss with the patient a range of implants which would be the right fit. Finally, an exercise is performed utilizing actual breast implants which are worn by the patient using garments provided to get a strong visual feedback, allowing us to provide her desired goals.

Male breast reduction surgery is a broad term which includes multiple technics which can be used to achieve a more masculine chest shape. These procedures address A multitude of issues which could include enlargement of glandular tissue, excess fat, excess skin, or feminization of the nipple areolar complex. These techniques can include cool sculpting, Liposuction or surgical excision.
These strategies are individualized to match each patient’s preoperative condition to yield a customized result.
