Q: What is microneedling?
A: We’re glad you asked! Microneedling targets the skin through an electric needling device. Through the use of 12 very fine needles, microneedling helps get rid of mild scarring and promotes the growth of new skin and collagen cells in the face. It’s ideal to treat and improve conditions such as loose skin, wrinkles, large pores, brown spots, acne scars, pigment issues and fine lines.
Q: Does the treatment hurt?
A: We know what you’re thinking. These small needles are going to hurt! However, since the needles used are so fine, they don’t cause pain. In addition to the needles being so small, our team uses a numbing cream before the treatment that helps further minimize any pain that you may feel. The cream takes 10-15 minutes to become effective and we will wait to start treatment until it has kicked in.
Q: How long does it take to see results?
A: Immediately following the procedure, you’ll notice that your skin is tighter and your pores appear smaller. The long-term benefits of microneedling take 4-6 weeks to appear. While the process of creating new collagen is sped up via the treatment, it still takes your body time to produce healthy collagen. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
Q: Is microneedling an ideal way to treat acne scarring?
A: Yes and no. Microneedling offers a variety of benefits such as pore reduction and softening fine lines, scar tissue and wrinkles. It makes it easier for topical products to seep in and take effect. However, microneedling treatment isn’t specifically designed to treat acne scarring.
