Nearly 50 million men and 30 million women are suffering from some sort of hair loss in the United States. While hair loss is extremely common, it doesn’t make it an easy fact to accept. With seemingly hundreds of hair loss restoration options on the market today, it can be tricky to find something that works.

What is PRP?
PRP, also known as platelet-rich plasma, is found naturally in the bloodstream. The natural concentration of platelets have a variety of natural healing and restorative properties that can benefit patients in a wide variety of ways, including promoting hair growth.
PRP is beneficial to the following scenarios:
- Male and female pattern baldness
- Post-pregnancy hair loss
- Female hair thinning due to a decrease in hormones
- Hair thinning due to medication
- Hair loss from aging
The process consists of drawing blood from the patient and spinning it in a centrofuge to separate the PRP platelets from the rest of your blood. This process retrieves 5-9 times the number of platelets naturally found in the blood and it secretes 10 different growth factors. The growth factors allow your body’s bioactive proteins to open and regulate follicle and cellular healing.
A Surgery-Free Option
Once we have retrieved the necessary platelets from your blood, we use a small needle to directly inject your scalp with the PRP. We will use a topical numbing cream to help reduce any discomfort during the procedure.
Each procedure takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and at least three sessions are typically required in order to yield the best results. The sessions should be spaced out as well, taking place 4-8 weeks apart.
There is minimal down time after the procedure because it is non-surgical, and post-procedure instructions are simple: don’t touch your head.
Patients feel safe opting for PRP over other hair loss procedures because it is non-surgical and non-invasive. There is minimal downtime and the patients like the idea of using a natural substance to promote hair growth instead of using a foreign chemical or technique.
