Endoscopic Brow Lift

What does the procedure entail?

An endoscopic brow lift is perfect for those that need a lift around their eyebrows, upper eyelids, and/or forehead. This procedure involves many small incisions near the scalp with an endoscope, all of which will be completely covered with your hair.

What will my recovery be like?

After the endoscopic brow lift is completed, the treated area will be covered with padding and a bandage to prevent any infections, swelling, or bleeding. The dressing will be there for the first couple of days, and the overall recovery time is ten to fourteen days.

How long does a brow lift last?

A browlift procedure often gives a longterm result, meaning that it will last many years. Over time, gravity and laxity will recur and result in some degree of downward decent of the brow. Factors that affect the longevity are underlying skin type and quality, lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, smoking or other factors. A healthy lifestyle improves the longevity of cosmetic procedures.

What can I expect after a brow lift?

A browlift is done to lift the position of the eyebrow. This can be lifted laterally to create a higher arch or can be lifted across the brow to elevate the entire brow structure. The aesthetics of brow position are unique to everyone’s unique  facial structure. It is essential during the consult process to determine the optimal shape and position of the brow prior to the procedure. I use computer imaging during the consult process to accurately define our goals and set expectations.

How do you know if you need a brow lift?

Brow position is unique to a person’s unique facial structure. If we look at aesthetically pleasing faces we see that brow position varies from low to mid to high position.  As we age, the brow drops and may need to be addressed with a browlift.  With a browlift procedure, the position of the brow can be restored to the original position or can be tailored to create the most aesthetically pleasing outcome.

Will a brow lift cause hair loss?

An endoscopic browlift involves small incisions behind the hairline. While it is possible to have some hair loss around the incision, it is very rare and would be limited. There are other types of approaches involving a hairline incision or a bicoronal incision however these approaches involve an extensive incision and  significantly increase risk for hair loss.

Is a brow lift the same as a forehead lift?

A browlift lifts the brow and forehead as a single unit. This does not change the distance from the brow to the hairline. If the incision is placed in the front margin of the hairline then the distance from the brow to the hairline will decrease. However, this requires a significant incision and should only be reserved for situations where it is important to change the brow hairline distance.

Eye Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

What does the procedure entail?

A blepharoplasty lifts the eyelids to achieve younger looking and brighter eyes. Our surgeon will be able to trim sagging skin/muscle, and remove any excess fat and tissue around the eyelid. Once this is complete, our surgeon will use small stitches to complete the procedure.

How do you know if you need blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is surgery to reduce the signs of aging of the upper or lower eyelids. Typically the changes that occur in the eyelid area with age are sagging and skin laxity, laxity of the muscle and bulging of fat pads creating bags. This can occur on the upper and lower eyelids. The result is a tired sad appearance. Excess skin of the upper eyelid can also begin to block vision. When this occurs, upper or lower blepharoplasty is indicated.

Am I a candidate for blepharoplasty?

A good candidate for blepharoplasty is a patient that has changes in the upper or lower eyelids that create a tired, worn our look or excess skin that is blocking the visual field. Potential patients that may not be a good candidate are patients that have excessive dry eyes. This is not an absolute contraindication but requires careful and thoughtful treatment to avoid potential exacerbation of the dry eyes.

Is eyelid surgery painful?

Typically, eyelid surgery is not significantly painful. There is an initial recovery period of 7 to 10 days due to swelling and bruising after the procedure. Sutures are removed one week after the procedure. Most patients are able to return to daily activities after one week however aerobic exercise will require 3 weeks to resume.

What will my recovery be like?

The average recovery time for a blepharoplasty is seven days, but you will want to avoid raising blood pressure for three weeks, and prevent too much sun exposure. You may also experience swelling for up to ten days after the procedure.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

What does the procedure entail?

For those with protruding or asymmetric ears, otoplasty may be the perfect option. Our surgeon is able to reshape patients’ ears with minimal surgery, depending on the exact problem they will be fixing. This procedure is done with general or local anesthesia with sedation.

Am I a candidate for otoplasty?

Otoplasty is done for ears that protrude away from the base of the head. Typically, there are two components to a Lop Ear deformity. First is a lack of an antihelical fold. In a normal shaped ear, there is a fold of the outer pinna that allows for the ear to rotate back toward the scalp. When this antihelical fold is not present then the ear rotates outward away from the base of the scalp. The second component is the conchal bowl. The conchal bowl is the central portion of the ear. In patients with Lop Ear deformity, the conchal bowl typically rotates outward from the base of the ear. Otoplasty typically requires creating an antihelical fold and lowering of the conchal bowl.

Does an otoplasty last forever?

An otoplasty should create a long-lasting result if done properly. It is possible that the sutures used to create the new fold in the ear cartilage can loosen or tear however this is usually not the case.

What will my recovery be like?

Ear surgery is relatively painless, and the average recovery time is only seven to ten days. You may experience some degree of discomfort, swelling, and redness, but this should subside within the recovery period. You should be able to return to work within a week, but do not work out before three weeks after the procedure.

First time here & I will definitely be back! Allison did my Botox. She was honest when I asked her what areas she thought botox would be best for me & explained the whole process. I have received botox at other cosmetic centers & this was by far the best experience!
