Most people have heard of arm lifts, breast lifts, and other cosmetic surgery options, but many don’t realize that they can all be forms of body contouring. The phrase itself just means that various parts are going to be changed in some way, by either reducing stomach flab, lifting the breasts or by other means. While most people have heard of the surgical methods, they may not know that nonsurgical methods are also available and are growing in popularity.
Face
The facial area is the first place most people notice small problems. If you would like for your whole face to be lifted and more toned, a facelift may be the answer. Other options can include a mid-face lift, which changes the neck and jowl area or a mini facelift, which works well for those who are starting to notice aging signs.
Upper Area
The upper area can also have changes made, including the breasts and arms. The breasts can be augmented (bigger), reduced or lifted to look more like you did when you were younger. Many people have problems with sagging skin on their upper arms (arm flab), which can be tightened and toned through cosmetic surgery.
Midsection
The midsection is always an annoying area for many women and men because stomach fat can be the most difficult to remove. Most people find that even years of exercise, especially core-strengthening moves, aren’t enough to battle the fat found in the midsection. Therefore, you may consider a tummy tuck or liposuction to remove the unwanted fat and tighten up the area.
Lower Area
The lower area of the body can include the thighs and buttocks, where liposuction can also be used. A buttock lift is also available, to help reshape the buttocks to look more pleasant and shapely.
Nonsurgical
There are now many nonsurgical body contouring options available because they are deemed to be safer. Surgery always comes with a risk of problems and infection, but with nonsurgical methods, those risks are erased (though other problems could arise). There are many common methods, such as laser therapy, radiofrequency energy, and ultrasound. CoolSculpting is another way, which ultimately freezes the unwanted fat.
Surgical
Surgical procedures are still very common and can include stomach lifts, lower area lifts, breast lifts and arm lifts. These methods are usually broken down into various stages and can include high risks, especially if you smoke or have other health problems. You should talk with your plastic surgeon about your options before making a decision to have any elective procedure.
