Liposuction

What does the procedure entail?

Excess fat is often difficult to be rid of, even with regular diet and exercise. For those that are at a relatively healthy weight, but have pockets of fat that they cannot seem to get rid of, liposuction is a great option. In your consultation, you’ll be able to discuss the areas on your body you want to see improvement on, whether your arms, stomach, back, etc. You will be given anesthesia for the actual procedure, and our surgeon will remove the excess fat with a cannula. Once you have recovered fully, the area will be better contoured and sculpted.

What will my recovery be like?

Liposuction recovery depends on the extent of the procedure, and the area or areas we have targeted. You will be able to resume a normal diet immediately, along with walk and do stairs after the surgery. Plan on wearing comfortable clothes, as you will need to wear an elastic girdle for up to a week post-surgery. Results will show after 48 hours, but swelling and bruising may last for up to eight weeks. You’ll be able to resume working out after two weeks.

Is liposuction safe?

Liposuction is a very safe procedure.  It is performed hundreds of thousands of times each year in the United States.  However, no surgical procedure is completely free of the risk of complications.  Complications can include bleeding and infection, swelling, scarring, contour irregularities, and anesthetic risks.

How long does it take to see results from liposuction?

Generally you will see some improvement immediately after liposuction; however, the full results are not visible for several months after surgery upon the resolution of the swelling of the treated sites.

Do you lose weight with liposuction?

This is not a weight reduction procedure.  It is merely a contouring procedure, and while a certain volume of fat is removed, there is no significant weight loss.

Is it harder to lose weight after liposuction?

No, it is no more difficult to lose weight after liposuction.  Should you lose weight, you may lose it in different areas, or should you gain weight, you may gain it in different areas as some of the storage capacity at the areas treated will have been decreased.

When should you consider liposuction?

Liposuction should be considered for problem areas after you have maximized your efforts with diet and exercise.  Natural weight loss is far superior to liposuction when it can be achieved.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

What does the procedure entail?

A tummy tuck is a great option for those that have lost a dramatic amount of weight or have had multiple children, as it is able to manage excess amounts of fat and skin. Oftentimes, those that have lost a lot of weight have excess skin that no amount of diet or exercise will be able to minimize. This procedure removes the skin and extra fat so that your abdominal muscles are more toned and firm. Ideal candidates are typically healthy and at a normal weight.

What will my recovery be like?

Most patients take one or two weeks to recover, but you will want to wait to exercise for a full three weeks (six weeks for any weight lifting). For three to four days after surgery, you will want to stick to small meals, and you will have to sleep on your back for one week. One of the best parts about a tummy tuck is that the results can last your whole life with regular diet and exercise.

How soon after giving birth can I get a tummy tuck?

Generally we recommend that you wait approximately 4 to 6 months after delivering a child and make sure that you have returned her your pre-pregnancy weight and are no longer lactating.

Can a tummy tuck cause stomach issues?

An Abdominoplasty has nothing to do with the internal organs or the digestive tract. Therefore a cosmetic tummy tuck has no effect at all on stomach issues.

Is a tummy tuck permanent?

Generally an abdominoplasty is permanent. Obviously if you were to have pregnancies following this procedure you could create more skin laxity or abdominal wall issues that may need to be addressed.

What happens if you gain weight after a tummy tuck?

If you gain weight after a tummy tuck it is unlikely that you would create further skin laxity unless it was a massive amount of weight gain. The skin would remain tight unless you were to lose massive amounts of weight after the procedure.

Should you lose weight before a tummy tuck?

It is always ideal to maximize weight loss prior to a tummy tuck. This would allow for resection of the maximum amount of tissue during the procedure to obtain the tightest result. Small amount of weight loss such as 5 or 10 pounds would probably not make a significant difference.

First time here & I will definitely be back! Allison did my Botox. She was honest when I asked her what areas she thought botox would be best for me & explained the whole process. I have received botox at other cosmetic centers & this was by far the best experience!
