There’s no way around it; everyone sweats. However, there are levels to how much one person perspires. Some only sweat a little bit, while some suffer from heavy sweating, also known as Hyperhidrosis. As a medical condition, it can be genetic or can stem from other medical problems. While the summer is supposed to be a fun and activity-filled season, those who suffer from Hyperhidrosis may have a hard time. Fortunately, there are ways to combat this condition so that any excessive sweating is curbed.
The Basics
Before trying any treatments, talk to your doctor about prescription strength deodorant and antiperspirant, as it is the easiest option available. For those that have a more mild case of Hyperhidrosis, this may do the trick. With the combination of antiperspirant and deodorant, you’ll have the protection of odor control and sweat-blocking aluminum salts. You can use it throughout the day as needed, and use antiperspirant anywhere you sweat, not just your underarms! Taking steps such as wearing breathable fabrics, underarm liners and shoe inserts can also help.
Botox
While there are other treatments you can turn to if prescription strength deodorant and antiperspirant do not work, many have experienced the wonders of Botox for Hyperhidrosis! Using small injections of Botox into the underarm areas to block the nerves that trigger the production of sweat is a new treatment that has helped many patients. The effects can last between seven to nine months, and you can always get another injection after the effects have worn off.
